Ghana Gov’t Announces Posthumous Promotions and Family Support Fund

…….. As Six (6) Out of the Eight (8) fallen Heroes Laid to Rest

Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama  announced in Accra,Friday,the posthumous promotion for the three (3)  Airforce  officers out of the total eight (8) victims of the recent tragic helicopter crush that hit the nation.

The lates,Squadron Leader Peter Anala, was elevated to Wing Commander; Flying Officer Twum-Ampadu elevated to Flight Lieutenant; and Sergeant Ernest Addo elevated to Flight Sergeant.

President Mahama also announced the creation of a Family Support Fund to take care of the families of the eight (8) gallant sons of the land in terms of their upkeep, education of the orphans among others.

These were contained in his address during the final funeral rites prior to the burial of six (6) out the eight (8) fallen heroes following the earlier burial of their other two (2) compatriots.

Aside Ghana’s  incumbent President Mahama, his vice,Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the First Lady,Mrs Lordina Mahama, other high profile national personalities present at the national ceremony were, ex-President Akufo Addo and his ex-Vice President,Dr.Mahmud Bawumia,former First Ladies,Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, Mrs Fulera Liman among others.

The ceremony also attracted other High profile dignitaries  from other parts of the West African sub-region including His Excellency,the Vice President of Liberia,Honorable Jeremiah Kpan Koung.

The victims lost their lives on August 6 while travelling to Obuasi for the launch of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (RCOMSDEP).

They included Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence; Alhaji Dr Murtala Mohammed, MP for Tamale Central and Minister of Environment, Science and Technology; Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress; Samuel Aboagye, Deputy Director-General of the National Disaster Management Organisation; Squadron Leader Peter Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo, all of the Ghana Air Force.
