Tanzania-Namibia Presidents sign Cooperation Agreements
The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, and the President of the Republic of Namibia, H.E. Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, have witnessed the signing of four cooperation agreements between the United Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of Namibia, a move expected to further strengthen the historic relations between the two countries and open new avenues for development according to a Tanzanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs X post on Saturday.
The agreements were signed at the State House in Dar es Salaam following official bilateral talks between the two leaders aimed at enhancing economic and social cooperation.
The agreements cover cooperation in defense matters, collaboration between the Zanzibar Municipal Council and the City of Swakopmund, cooperation in trade development, and partnership in the promotion and development of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
Speaking after the ceremony, President Samia said the agreements reflect the strong commitment of Tanzania and Namibia to deepen their longstanding relationship and transform it into a partnership that delivers greater economic and social benefits to their peoples.
She noted that the cooperation frameworks would contribute to increased trade and investment, facilitate the exchange of expertise and best practices, and promote the welfare and prosperity of citizens in both countries.
For her part, President Nandi-Ndaitwah described the agreements as a testament to the growing strategic partnership between Tanzania and Namibia, founded on solidarity, friendship, and a shared history of Africa’s liberation struggles.
She emphasized that their implementation would create new opportunities for economic growth, private sector development, and stronger collaboration between public institutions.
The signing of the agreements is regarded as a significant step in the efforts of Tanzania and Namibia to transform their historic friendship into a partnership that delivers tangible benefits to their citizens.
It also reflects the determination of both leaders to strengthen cooperation across various sectors in pursuit of sustainable development, job creation, expanded trade, and shared prosperity.
